About Jon Adams

I have my bachelors in sociology and political science, having recently graduated from Utah State University. I co-founded SHAFT, but have also been active in the College Democrats and the Religious Studies Club. I was born in Utah to a loving LDS family. I left Mormonism in high school after discovering some disconcerting facts about its history. Like many ex-Mormons, I am now an agnostic atheist. I am amenable to being wrong, however. So should you disagree with me about religion (or anything, really), please challenge me. I welcome and enjoy a respectful debate. I love life, and am thankful for those things and people that make life worth loving: my family, my friends, my dogs, German rock, etc. Contact: jon.earl.adams@gmail.com

  1. It seems to me that those who are a proponent of “Intelligent Design” are arguing based on their ignorance. If a god designed us he did an astoundingly terrible job. So very many little things can and do go wrong – things which would be, if you were a god, astoundingly easy to fix.

It’s based in ignorance. Ignorance of facts, ignorance of biology, and really a basic ignorance of science. I’m far, far from being a biologist, but I at least have a good idea about the way biology works, and what an astoundingly (word of the day) huge amount of evidence there is which supports the theory of evolution, and none which supports the faith of Intelligent Design.

  2. I loved Neil deGrasse Tyson before watching this video, and after watching the much larger unclipped version of this lecture, I wanted to be married to the brother.

I will be adding Neil deGrasse Tyson to the list of human beings who have officially reached “god” status, that is, better than human.

  3. I thought I would follow up with the link to the entire Neil Tyson lecture, as well as something I just discovered that I will spend all my free time in the next week watching,

It is more than a dozen hours of video of the greatest minds in the world, some very famous people, (intellectual celebrities) discussing, and arguing that science is the greatest pursuit of mankind, and how religion is holding it back.

  4. Once again I am a boob. Here is the link to the full Neil Tyson lecture.

Watch the whole thing, after Tyson is done, there is very meaningful and brilliant discussion pertaining to his lecture points.
